Third AI Pact webinar on AI literacy

The AI Office will host its next AI Pact webinar on 20 February 2025, thus continuing to engage actively with stakeholders on the implementation of the EU’s AI Act.

This session will focus on Article 4 of the AI Act, which requires providers and deployers of AI systems to ensure a sufficient level of AI literacy.

What does this mean in practice?

AI providers (the companies or developers creating the AI systems) and deployers (those using the AI systems) must take steps to ensure that their employees and others involved in working with these AI systems understand how they operate. This is called improving AI literacy.

AI literacy ( knowledge)  helps to prevent mistakes, misuse, or harm caused by AI systems. When staff understand how the AI works, they can:

  • Use it effectively and safely.
  • Spot problems or biases early.
  • Explain its operation to others, including end users or regulators.

In the first part of the webinar, the EU AI Office will focus on Article 4 of the AI Act and its requirements, presenting the initiatives foreseen to facilitate the implementation of this general provision.

During this session a living repository will be launched containing a first non-exhaustive list of ongoing practices gathered among the members of the AI Pact, which will be regularly updated. While complying with the initiatives included in this repository will not automatically grant presumption of compliance with Article 4, the repository should encourage learning and exchange among providers and deployers on the topic.

In the second part of the webinar, some practices and related learnings will be presented in an interactive dialoguebetween the EU AI Office and AI Pact members.

A Q&A session will close the webinar.

The webinar will be open to all and streamed live on the AI Office'  YouTube channel.
