Concerns over EU Taxonomy Appendix C: call for urgent revisions
The co-signatories support the EU Taxonomy framework as a crucial tool to bridge investment gaps and drive sustainable finance. However, they have identified a major usability issue in Appendix C, which prevents companies providing green transition technologies from reporting alignment with the Taxonomy.
Among the usability issues that the co-signatories have identified are an unclear scope, the acceptance of legal exemptions, legal ambiguity and lack of transparency. They urge the European Commission to address these concerns in upcoming revisions to the Climate and Environment Delegated Acts.

What is the EU Taxonomy Framework?
The EU Taxonomy is a classification system developed by the European Union to define environmentally sustainable economic activities. It is a key part of the EU Green Deal and aims to guide investments toward sustainable projects, helping the EU reach climate neutrality by 2050.
The Taxonomy assesses activities based on six environmental objectives:
- Climate change mitigation
- Climate change adaptation
- Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources
- Transition to a circular economy
- Pollution prevention and control
- Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems
For an activity to be classified as "sustainable," it must substantially contribute to at least one objective while ensuring it does not significantly harm (DNSH) any of the others.
The EU Taxonomy will push the fire safety and security industry toward sustainability, requiring greener materials, more energy-efficient systems, and stricter compliance.
